Can you see the power of pink?

A few weeks ago my husband came home with a retail bag full of pink ribbon goodies for me — that’s what he does, you see, when he sees a pink ribbon product. He buys it. He can’t help himself. It’s his way of showing his undying support for me and the cause I’m vested in: raising awareness of breast cancer.
So one of the gifts was a pair of earrings — the most adorable little baubles. They go with just about everything I own since the ribbon is a subtle shade of pink and I’m all about silver right now. And yes, I’ve been known to wear pink ribbons in some way shape or form for days on end.

The second box was a necklace. Check it out, on the right. It’s amazing. I just love the message, don’t you?
Turns out the company that designed these pieces, Brighton is all about the message … messages of love and passion. Breast cancer awareness is seriously on their minds because, in their words, ‘everyone knows someone whose life has been greatly affected by breast cancer’.
Here’s a peek at the Brighton Power of Pink webpage — explaining how their 2003 bracelet enabled them to donate $250,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Each year their giving has grown … and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, City of Hope, the Nevada Cancer Institute and other US organizations have all become beneficiaries.
Here’s the icing on the cake … each of these pieces came in the most beautiful cloth bag, pink with a pink ribbon Brighton logo on the front, and a booklet entitled, ‘Together we can make a difference’ featuring pictures of survivors, statistics about the disease and a list of their beneficiaries with links and contact information.
Anyway, whenever I sport these earrings or wear this necklace I think of the love that went into each and every one of them as they were made I also think about the love my husband has for me that he buys me pink ribbon jewelry because he knows that touches me deeply. And I think about the love I have for everyone vested in this cause right alongside me.
