Make Your Own Pink Ribbons

by Karen Lynch on April 12th, 2008

82171691_418d7eb55f_m.jpgIt’s easy to do! Start by buying miles and miles of pink ribbon! No, seriously, just get yourself to a sewing or craft shop — or aisle in your favorite retail outlet - and pick out a spool of pink ribbon, a quarter inch wide.

When you get home, snip the very end at an angle (like this: / ), then snip off a three inch section of ribbon also at an angle but the opposite angle (like this: \ ).

Next, hold the three inch piece of ribbon horizontally in both your hands with the shorter edge on top ( /—\ ).

Grasp the ribbon at it’s midpoint. Take the left end and fold it so it points down then slightly across the midpoint; then, fold the right end down in the same way so the ribbon crosses itself.

Where the ribbon crosses itself, use a small safety pin to hold the ribbon in place, concealing the pin behind the ribbon.

You can certainly use a hot glue gun and dab a dot of glue at the cross point before you fold the right end of the ribbon down. Or, use a needle and small length of pink thread to secure the ribbon ends together.

Let me know how they come out. Better yet … send me some!! Have fun!
